Windy City Pulp Con Photos!

As promised, here are some photos from the Pulp con I, and several other members of the Pulp Factory, attended.  What a great show.

I landed back in Kentucky a bit under the weather from the travels (or perhaps
just running back into Kentucky’s humid environs), but my head was still
jangling with the sights and sounds of the Con. It was great meeting the fellow
Factory Workers there and putting faces to the names..Ron “Daddy-o” Fortier, Rob
“look at this and tell me what YOU see” Davis, Andrew “THE Andrew Salmon”
Salmon, Van “Sure Dave, I’ll drive you over there” Plexico, Wayne
“Poster-Master” Reinagel, and of course Doug “Yeah, I did the cover” Klauba.

The smell of pulp was definitely in the air, and though this isn’t the first
pulp show I’d been to, it was certainly the best. For me, seeing the fantastic
pulp art itself would have been worth it, but hanging out with the Factory
Fellows made it fantastic.

Special thanks to Van for hauling my butt all over Chicago, and to Doug for
sharing a table with me!

Windy City Pulp and Paper Con!

Hey guys and gals!  I just wanted to let folks around the Chicago area know that on May 1st through the 3rd, I’ll be attending the Windy City Pulp and Paper Con!  I’ll be sharing a table with fantastic artist, Doug Klauba, who’s done the best Phantom covers I’ve ever seen, as well as doing art for Dynamite’s Project Superpowers.

I’m looking forward to meeting (for the first time) some of my pulp-creating friends, as well as pulp fans…..though I have to say that I’m probably going to go into debt with all the cool pulp books and art that will be there!

Anyway, if you plan on attending, make sure to stop by and say hello!

Doc Monster Tie-in

Howdy, folks!

I’ve been a bit slow on the posts of late because of plotting out my first Doc Monster short!  The next screen of GZ is pretty cool though, so you should see it up soon.

So, I was looking for Doc Monster inspirational material and happened across a Gold Key comic called “UFO Flying Saucers”.  Kind of a redundant title, I know…but check this retro-cool cover…

And for those of you NOT “in the know” regarding UFO stories, the only pilot to die chasing a UFO was here in Kentucky…and it started just 30 miles from where I grew up..in Maysville.  That story was included as well, so I’ve got it here for you to enjoy below!

Bikinis! Monsters! Motorcycles!

I found out from Bill Cunningham’s wonderful site Pulp 2.0 that AMC is offering some really sweet streaming videos of some B-movie classics!  I’d grown up hearing about some of the titles, but I’ve never had the opportunity to improve my B-movie education…until now!

So..what are you waiting for?  Let me start you off with a groovy little classic, “How to Make a Monster”!

Dig it!  Dig it NOW!)
